How to run the stand

Tap Build at the top of the side rail to open the engine builder. Work through the steps on the left, from the compressor to the throttle map, then press Save engine to put it on the test stand. Nothing changes until you save.

Manual start: tap Auto start to switch to hand starts. Run the Starter, switch on Ignition, then open the Fuel at 12 to 15 % N. Fuel too early, or fuel before ignition, gives a hot start: cut the fuel fast. Keep the starter on until it cuts out. With FADEC on, it aborts a bad start for you.

Propeller pitch (turboprops): the pitch selector works like gears. Use 1 or 2 at low power and shift up as you add power, keeping prop speed near 100 %. Dropping to fine pitch at high power overspeeds the propeller and can wreck it. Coarse pitch at full power over-torques the gearbox. R gives reverse thrust, but only shift into it at idle.

Tap Dyno on the rail to run a standard thrust-stand test. It gives a dyno sheet with thrust, horsepower, spool-up time and fuel use, and those numbers go on the leaderboard.

Start spins the starter. Fuel and ignition come in at about 17% N and the engine lights. In manual mode you meter the fuel yourself.
Throttle lever: IDLE at the bottom, MAX at the gate, afterburner above it.
FADEC on limits fuel to keep temperature, speed and surge margin safe. Off gives you raw fuel flow, and the engine can destroy itself. After Start the engine idles by itself. Raise the lever to take over the fuel.
Overheating damages the turbine in stages: first a warning and slow wear, then smoke and shaking, then collapse. Cut fuel in time and it survives, but the damage stays.
Failure modes: turbine overtemp, compressor surge, flameout, rotor overspeed. Surges also damage the blades.
Keyboard: S start, X stop, ↑ ↓ throttle, End max, Home idle.
